Destination Wedding Guides

St. Lucia Destination Weddings

St. Lucia is for couples who want the Caribbean to feel dramatic - rainforest, mountains, tucked-away beaches, romantic resorts, and wedding settings that look completely different from one end of the island to the other.

Best Months

December - April

Island Style

Mountains, rainforest, beaches + Piton views

Resort Style

All-inclusive, boutique luxury + romantic retreats

Best For

Scenery, romance, privacy + unforgettable backdrops

Before You Choose the Resort

St. Lucia changes dramatically from north to south.

One end of the island can feel social, beachy, and resort-focused. Another can feel like a private rainforest escape surrounded by the Pitons. That difference is exactly why St. Lucia can be incredible for the right wedding - and why choosing where you stay matters.

Destination Fit

Is St. Lucia Right for Your Wedding?

St. Lucia is a strong fit for couples who want the destination itself to be part of what their guests remember. It is scenic, romantic, experience-driven, and very different from a traditional Caribbean resort strip.

A Great Fit When...

You want the trip to feel just as memorable as the wedding day.

  • Dramatic scenery is high on your priority list.
  • You love mountains, rainforest, tropical landscapes, and romantic resorts.
  • You want guests to feel like they are taking a true Caribbean vacation.
  • You are open to boutique resorts, luxury properties, or a more destination-forward experience.
  • You want wedding photos and settings that feel unmistakably St. Lucia.

Maybe Not the Right Fit If...

St. Lucia is spectacular, but it is not necessarily the easiest destination for every guest list.

  • You are bringing a very large group with widely varying budgets. St. Lucia can come with a fairly premium price tag for both airfare and resorts, which can make it harder to find one option that feels comfortable for everyone.
  • Keeping the overall guest trip cost as low as possible is one of your biggest priorities.
  • You need a huge selection of similarly priced all-inclusive resorts.
  • Long or winding island drives would be difficult for some of your guests.
  • You prefer a flat, sprawling resort destination over a mountainous island.

From Dana

I've been helping couples plan travel to St. Lucia for more than 11 years, and one thing I have learned is that the right part of the island matters just as much as the right resort. I want to understand your guest list, your budget, and the experience you want before I ever start recommending properties.

See St. Lucia

Sometimes you need to see the island to understand it.

The Pitons, rainforest, coastline, and completely different regions are what make St. Lucia unlike a typical Caribbean resort destination. Take a look around - then we'll get into when to go, where to stay, and which part of the island actually fits your wedding.

Weather + Timing

Best Time to Get Married in St. Lucia

St. Lucia stays warm year-round, so temperature does not tell the whole story. Rainfall, humidity, storm risk, crowds, and resort pricing are what change more noticeably throughout the year.

Best Weather Window

December - April

Dec · Jan · Feb · Mar · Apr

The strongest stretch for drier weather, comfortable evenings, and outdoor wedding events. This is peak season for a reason, so the best resorts and wedding dates can move quickly.

Still Worth a Look

May & June

May · Jun

Warmer and wetter than winter, but still worth considering when value or more resort availability matters.

Shoulder Season

November

Nov

A transition month before the winter rush. It can offer more flexibility, although weather is less predictable than during the core December-through-April window.

Higher Weather Risk

July - October

Jul · Aug · Sep · Oct

Hotter, more humid, wetter, and within Atlantic hurricane season. Strong weather backup plans and travel protection become especially important during this stretch.

Monthly Climate · St. Lucia

Warm year-round. Rainfall is the bigger difference.

Average monthly high temperatures and precipitation are shown together so you can see how little temperature changes compared with the shift in rainfall.

Avg High °F
Avg Rainfall

Monthly averages are a planning guide, not a weather guarantee. Conditions can vary across St. Lucia's mountainous and coastal areas.

From Dana

The temperature does not change dramatically throughout the year in St. Lucia - rainfall does. For weddings, I care less about finding the "warm" months and more about finding the right balance between drier weather, resort pricing, availability, and your guest experience.

Guest Experience

What Does a St. Lucia Wedding Trip Feel Like?

A St. Lucia wedding tends to feel more like a true island vacation than a traditional resort getaway. Guests may spend more to get here and stay here, but the experience is also more distinctive.

Larger All-Inclusive

Easier for a Wedding Group

More restaurants, activities, room categories, and a familiar all-inclusive format can make the trip easier for guests who want everything in one place.

Boutique Luxury

Smaller + More Intimate

These properties often trade sheer size for privacy, elevated service, distinctive architecture, and a much more personal resort experience.

Iconic St. Lucia

The Destination Is the Experience

Piton views, rainforest settings, volcanic landscapes, sailing, and one-of-a-kind resorts are what make the premium price point worthwhile for couples and guests who value the experience.

Before We Choose the Resort

The right St. Lucia resort starts with choosing the right part of the island.

St. Lucia changes dramatically from north to south. The beaches, scenery, resort style, atmosphere, and pace of the trip can all feel different depending on where you stay - so we narrow down the right part of the island before we narrow down the resort.

From Dana

Once we know which part of St. Lucia fits your group, choosing the resort becomes much easier. That's when we start comparing the properties within that experience - not just whichever resort has the prettiest photos.

St. Lucia for Two

Why St. Lucia has become one of our top elopement destinations.

More and more couples are looking at St. Lucia differently. When you are not trying to make the destination work for a large guest list with different budgets, you have so much more freedom to choose the experience you actually want.

That can mean splurging on the bucket-list honeymoon resort you've always dreamed about - somewhere like Ladera or Jade Mountain - and turning the wedding and honeymoon into one unforgettable trip.

Say your vows with the Pitons behind you. Take the wedding photos you've always imagined. Then wake up the next morning already on your honeymoon.

And eloping does not mean you cannot celebrate with the people you love. A lot of couples marry and honeymoon in St. Lucia, then come home and host a small dinner, party, or celebration with family and friends.

Tradition has been out the window since COVID. Couples are giving themselves more permission to do what fits them best - not what everyone else says a wedding is supposed to look like.

Start Planning

Let's figure out whether St. Lucia fits your wedding.

You do not need to know which resort, which part of the island, or even whether a full destination wedding or intimate elopement makes the most sense yet. That is exactly what we help you figure out.

  • We'll look at your guest list, budgets, and priorities.
  • We'll compare the parts of St. Lucia that best fit the experience you want.
  • We'll narrow down resorts based on your actual wedding - not a generic best-of list.
  • You'll know exactly why the options we recommend make sense.

FAQ

A few things couples should know before booking St. Lucia.

St. Lucia has a few considerations that can genuinely affect whether the destination and resort are right for your wedding. These are the conversations worth having before anything is signed.

Guest Budgets

Is St. Lucia a good fit for a very large wedding group?

It can be, but guest budgets matter. St. Lucia can carry a premium price tag for both airfare and resorts, so a very large group with widely varying budgets may be harder to accommodate comfortably than in destinations with a larger range of all-inclusive price points.

Island Logistics

Why does the part of the island matter so much?

St. Lucia is mountainous, so different parts of the island can feel like completely different vacations. Resort location affects the scenery, surrounding atmosphere, and how guests experience their time outside the wedding events.

LGBTQ+ Weddings + Travel

Is St. Lucia LGBTQ+ friendly?

This is one of those questions where we think couples deserve a real answer instead of a simple yes or no. Consensual same-sex relationships are legal in St. Lucia following a 2025 court ruling, but same-sex marriage is not currently legally recognized there.

LGBTQ+ travelers do visit St. Lucia, and individual resorts and tourism professionals may be welcoming and inclusive. However, social attitudes can be more conservative than what some travelers are accustomed to at home, and LGBTQ+ residents can still face discrimination.

For a same-sex destination wedding, we would typically talk through the specific resort and wedding team carefully. Couples can also choose to complete their legal marriage at home and celebrate with a symbolic ceremony in St. Lucia.

Elopements

Is St. Lucia a good place to elope?

It has become one of our favorite destinations for it. Without a large guest list to accommodate, couples can focus their budget on the resort, experience, photography, and honeymoon they truly want.

Many couples marry and honeymoon in St. Lucia, then celebrate with family and friends at home afterward.

Ceremony Planning

Should we have a legal or symbolic ceremony?

Many destination wedding couples choose to complete the legal marriage at home and hold a symbolic ceremony in St. Lucia. It can simplify the destination planning process while still allowing the St. Lucia ceremony to feel completely like the wedding day.

Planning Support

Do I need a destination wedding travel agent?

St. Lucia is a destination where the guest list, resort location, property style, and wedding experience all need to work together. Having someone evaluate the entire trip can help prevent you from choosing a beautiful resort that does not actually fit your group.
